Overview

The Information Management Developer is responsible for the development, on-going enhancement and support of automation initiatives in the Mass General Development Office, taking existing business process and identifying and implementing opportunities to introduce workload automation to support rapidly growing business needs. The Developer selects and develops new technology and enhancements to maximize the Department's efficiency and return on investment. The position will ensure that best practices are met and maintained through the development life cycle and ongoing infrastructure support for database and web applications. The Developer will be expected to work with a high level of autonomy and expected to provide technical and administrative leadership to ensure that projects are completed on time and on budget. 

Responsibilities

Contribute to design approaches for integrated technical solutions for team's fundraising databasesParticipate in life-cycle engagement from functional requirements, design, user-interface development, security access, testing and documentation.Follow appropriate internal processes for solution development, testing and documentation.Prepare concise technical design documentsTune and optimize solutions based on testing analysis and performance requirementsProvide application support to Reporting platforms and develop enhancement to better integrate with other reporting tools and data setsUse logic and reasoning to identify opportunities for alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to challengesStrive to increase knowledge of fundraisingParticipate in team staff meetings, department staff meetings, in-service trainings, and other professional development.Engage appropriately and respectfully with hospital staff and colleaguesParticipate and/or is responsible for preparing a budget for their managed group, and work within the approved budgetContribute to maintaining positive office morale, even in the face of high work volume and challenging periodsTake on other office-wide duties at the request of the Senior Managing Director, or Vice President;Adhere to the mission, credo, and standards of behavior of Massachusetts General HospitalQualificationsBachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics/Applied Statistics or related fields, required.  This position also requires the following experience:At least 3-5 years of database development experience with SQL Server and Reporting tools3-5 years experience in project managementExperience with object oriented analysis and designExperience with .NET technologies and developing in Windows environment in C, C#, VB or related languagesExperience with SharePoint platform and Power BIExperience with SSISExperience with Command Line and Batch FilesExperience with RDBMS systems; specifically SQL Server 2012Experience with SQL, T-SQL, SSRS or other comparable reporting toolExperience in developing on premise and cloud applicationsKnowledge of web based applications (i.e. ASP.NET, JavaScript, HTML, CSS)Demonstrated experience in creating moderately complex reports including sub reports, drill downs, multiple data sources, and stored proceduresKnowledge of data warehouse concepts and structuresExperience with Microsoft Visual StudioExperience with GIT or other related revision trackingAlso, the ideal candidate will possess the following skills, abilities and competencies:Ability to manage multiple concurrent deadlinesAbility to work directly or independently in all phases of solution development from requirements gathering, user acceptance testing, and production deploymentWell-organizedExceptional individual contributor as well as team playerIntegrity and a strong sense of professional ethicsAbility to set priorities and achieve established goalsHigh level of initiative and energyAbility to work effectively in a large, complex, dynamic, and sophisticated organization
