Gift in a batch not committing

Options
Recently we are having random gifts not commit when we post the batch. Might happen once a week. All the gifts in the batch commit but one. Validating the batch before committing it does not indicate there are any issues. When we go back, code the batch as recurring, delete the committed gifts and then commit the "new" batch with the gift that originally did not commit -- Voila the gift commits. Nothing was changed. But it takes the 2nd time. Any ideas as to why the gift is not committing the first time? Or suggestions on what we might do to ensure they go through? This is becoming frustrating.

There are a couple commit options that may help you, available in the Commit Gift Batch dialog before you actually begin committing. 1. Create control report. This will generate a control report when the commit process is complete. Exceptions will be listed here, with a note of the reason, which should help you to figure out what is going wrong on the first attempt. 2. Create a new batch of exceptions. If there are any exceptions, a new batch will be created with just those lines. This could save you a little time when you try to commit that gift again!

We've had problems with gifts not committing at times, when there has been no reason for them to not commit. I spoke to BB about it some time (I think a year) ago and apparently it was a bug fixed for a relatively recent version (7.92 patch 4 maybe). However it can still happen.

How you resolved it is one way to do so; we can't (shouldn't) delete gifts in a batch so we create a new batch to commit the non-committed gift(s).

I've had the same thing happen a couple of times for no apparent reason.

We have had this happen a few times - in my case, what was happening was it was put through as one type of payment, (like Visa) but the original recurring gift was a different type (like Mastercard). For whatever reason, when I would go to commit, it would over-ride the gift type to the old one, and so would not commit. Not sure if this is what is happening to you, but might be one area to check.
