maiden name in addressee/salutation

Options

Some married alumni use a hyphenated last name incorporating their maiden name and their spouse's last name.  Do you remove the maiden name text in this case, or leave it?  My preference is to leave it, but it causes their Alumni Addressee to say Mrs. Sue Smith Smith-Hawkins.  I know the add/sal configuration can deal with it, but I hoped to keep this a one-stop shop without having to manually adapt and change these.  Any suggestions?

What we do is remove it from the maiden field and place it in "Alias" as maiden name and leave the hyphenated name as the last name.
