First year giving at a certain level

Options
Is there any way to query or export (or even report) the first Fiscal Year during which a donor reached a certain giving level? Specifically, I would like to see whether any $1k+ donors are completely new to that category. Example: Alice, a new donor, pledged $100/month in FY10, and ever since. Bob's first gift was in FY10, a single gift of $750. He has since, let's say in FY12, bumped up to a single gift of $1k. How do I get FY10 for Alice and FY12 for Bob? If someone falls off the $1k+ bandwagon, is there a similar Last Fiscal Year function?

    Christopher,

I've read your post a couple of times.  I can't think of an easy way to get what you want.

Reports > Analytical Reports > Comparative Report will let you compare two years - shows increases/decreases.

The Donor Category report will list donors for a category - you have to set up your donor categories in Configuration > Tables.  But it doesn't break down by year unless you run separate reports for each year.  You could do that and create output queries, merge the queries maybe...

You could create query of donors who've given $1k+ using summary gift info but I think you'd have to have separate criteria for each year and query doesn't tell you the year.   If you had the query of all who've given though you could take it to Export and in export report on each year as a separate column.  Not the easiest to set up but can be used repeatedly.  From export you'd get info in excel and would need to do any needed cleanup.

Honestly, I think I'd get on chat with support and ask them for suggestions.  There might be something else out there I'm not thinking of right now. . Hopefully there is.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, what I'm looking at right now is exactly that: exporting everyone's summed giving history, year by year, until I export back to the earliest recorded gift. Not the most user-friendly way of doing it, especially for years moving forward. I've tried Exporting, but First Gift only lets me export info on the first single gift of $1k+. In Alice's case, Export would give me 0. I feel this could be solved by adding a plural series of available output (First Gifts, Last Gifts, etc. that fit selected criteria), but that's not really an option right now.
