POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Database Specialist

DEPARTMENT: Finance and Administration

REPORTS TO: Director, Information Systems

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: To ensure effective data reporting, and documentation, assist in the

daily maintenance of information systems and provide some staff training.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES:

1. Leads basic training classes and creates training programs.

2. Creates queries that are responsive to users' needs.

3. Serves as the department's liaison to Church Relations, including updating their dashboard,

creating custom reports, designing queries to support data needed for the Evaluation Report,

and assisting with data entry.

4. Documents data information processes and procedures as directed.

5. Assists in daily maintenance of information systems, including merging records, eliminating

duplicates and resolving conflicts between systems.

6. Manages and tracks data requests and performs preliminary analysis of trends.

7. Serves on the Data Protocol Committee.

8. Supports key functions in absence of Director of IS.

9. Performs work to meet other needs as assigned.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES

Provides coverage for Development staff by conducting Prospect Research for major donors

Serves on other task forces

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

None

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

Associates degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred due to analysis work.

Minimum of two years' experience with sophisticated databases with demonstrated understanding

of database integrity issues and knowledge of queries.

One year's experience training adults on computer systems.

Excellent customer service and communication skills

Demonstrated ability to maintain a professional demeanor including dependability, flexibility,

willingness to learn, and problem-solving skills.

Previous experience with a relational database such as Access or Constituent Relational

Management Systems such as Raisers' Edge, Convio, Luminate, and/or C-Vent a plus.
