Data Analyst/Report Writer

Position Purpose

The Data Analyst/Report Writer in the Department of Information Services will be responsible for the fulfillment of data and report requests, providing end user support, and investigating and resolving transactional and data-related issues of Blackbaud products.  This role will also be responsible for Blackbaud system support as needed.

 

Principal Responsibilities

  • Produce or support the production of standard, custom and dashboard reports utilizing data warehouse and transactional systems
  • Supports and maintains the University Advancement web-based reporting infrastructure built in SQL Server Reporting Services while adhering to internal standards and change management practices
  • Fulfills data requests for mailing lists, donor rolls, demographic and giving analyses, and other requests
  • Using advanced analytical skills, provide comprehensive assessments to management that interpret patterns and trends, and determine overall data quality
  • Performs business requirements gathering and analysis and clearly communicates findings to various stakeholders
  • Provide program support for Blackbaud fundraising software products used by the University Advancement community
  • Participate in thorough testing and validation efforts ensuring timely and accurate results in a team environment
  • Provides data manipulation and reporting assistance to other departments as needed
  • Assists with the development of audit reports in support of data management integrity
  • Designs, creates, and maintains application and business process related documentation
  • Provides appropriate service, support, and advice to end users regarding technical and reporting issues
  • Provides advice, guidance, and training to end users concerning the capabilities and functions of the reporting systems
  • Participates as a member of the FSU Advancement Data Integrity Committee (FADIC)
  • Protects confidential information

 

Education & Experience

 

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, analytics, informatics, computer science, or related field required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience programming in SQL or similar query language required
  • Proven history of utilizing SSRS (other BI tools such as Cognos or Business Objects may substitute) for report development and publishing
  • Experience as a subject matter expert on a business application or process, including participation on large project initiatives preferred
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office product suite, including Excel and Access
  • Understanding of standard IT policies and procedures, including usage of test environments and change procedures
  • Strong aptitude for diagnosing end user problems, identifying and implementing solutions
  • Excel at uncovering hidden trends in a volume of data
  • Working knowledge of relational database architectures
  • Experience with Blackbaud products preferred
