Exports - Performance Issues After Upgrade To 7.92

Hello, we've recently upgraded from 7.85 on a physical server to 7.92 on a virtual server and are now experiencing performance issues with some exports. The Blackbaud knowledgebase states that performance issues are not supported in a virtual environment although this is not stated in the system requirements document nor was it mentioned by Blackbaud when our consultants were in touch with before the upgrade. Might it just be a case of recreating relevant exports and queries or are we likely to be stuck with this whilst using a virtual server?

Here are some questions that may help finding the solution for slow exports: 1. Did you also upgrade to a different version of SQL Server? Check how new versions of SQL Server handle memory allocations. 2. Have you run database maintenance after the upgrade and are you running it regularly? 3. Have you adjusted database log size? 4. Have you deleted unnecessary static queries? May not relate to the issue you are having, but just a good exercise to do it regularly. Mark

Hi Mark and thanks very much for responding - sorry it's taken a while to get back. To answer your questions - we did upgrade from SQL 2005 to SQL 2008 although I've yet to check how 2008 handles memory allocations. We did run maintenance on the database after the upgrade and have set monthly maintenance tasks. I've not adjusted the database log size and I'll need to check re unnecessary static queries. Data space usage is just under 14GB, Index space usage is at 1.5GB with unallocated space at just over 3GB (should any of this be relevant). Michael
