NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANT

San Francisco, CA

Why Work At Summer Search

Summer Search is a $16M national nonprofit organization that identifies resilient low-income high school students and inspires them to reach their full potential and become leaders in their families and communities. We understand that for these students to graduate from college and break the cycle of poverty, they must have opportunities to develop the life skills that are essential to their capacity to succeed in school and beyond. Through year-round mentoring, life-changing summer experiences, college advising and an alumni support network, Summer Search has transformed the lives of over 4,200 students. While only 11 percent of low-income students in the U.S. graduate from college, 85 percent of Summer Search students are on track to earn a four-year college degree.

Founded in 1990 in San Francisco, Summer Search has grown to serve our largest cohort of students ever: more than 2,000 students nationally across our San Francisco, Silicon Valley, North San Francisco Bay, Seattle, Philadelphia, Boston and New York programs. Powered by a successful $20M national growth campaign, we launched our five-year strategic plan in 2012 with the goal of doubling revenues and serving more than 3,500 students by 2017. As the link between positive character traits and a child's future success continues to gain widespread national attention, Summer Search stands at an exciting inflection point in its history.
