Manager of Prospect Development

 

Reports to Director of Development Services

Responsible for providing research services to Foundation leadership and development officers. Responsible for designing and executing a strategic plan for streamlining and improving prospect management and research processes. Provides support to the fundraising operations by responding to research requests, conducting detailed research, and providing appropriate materials in support of general fundraising and campaign initiatives

Minimum qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  •  

  • Minimum 3 years of proven prospect research experience
  •  

  • Ability to use relational databases (i.e. Raiser's Edge), the understanding of information management and the ability to store, and retrieve data
  •  

  • Ability to conduct searching via the web, Lexis-Nexis and other appropriate resources
  •  

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  •  

  • Excellent time management and follow-up skills
  •  

  • Excellent written and oral communication, editing and proofreading skills
  •  

    Willingness to work evenings and weekends and to travel

     

 

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Five years of experience in applied analytical research involving and emphasis on modeling but including data base work, statistical analysis, etc.

     

  • Knowledge of Blackbaud's, Research Point, Wealthpoint and Raiser's Edge
  •  

  • Proven Prospect Management experience and skills
  •  

  • Advance knowledge of fundraising terminology and resources
  •  

  • Advance knowledge of research methodology and ethical standards
  •  

  • Excellent analytical and presentation skills for participation in strategic planning and prospect qualification meetings
  •  

 

 

 

 

Principal Duties Include:

 

  • Conduct detailed prospect research on major and principal gift prospects and prepare written profiles and reports.
  •  

  • Work with the Wealthpoint on time to research prospects identified through the daily census data
  •  

  • Update, code and maintain the Raiser's Edge database of donors and prospects
  •  

  • Conduct research using various sources and tools to augment existing data on prospects in the Raiser's Edge database
  •  

  • Gather and distribute information to Foundation relevant staff about prospects/Philanthropy/Donor obituaries through public information sources such as newspapers, magazines and electronic databases. Document this information into the appropriate Raiser's Edge data file
  •  

    Support the Executive Director of Development & Major Gifts with a qualified prospects list

     

  • Inform and advise Senior Leadership Team of potential prospects
  •  

  • Research, track and systematically report on business, volunteer and social relationships (corporate, non-profit, social affiliations and relationship mapping) of all $5M+ prospects
  •  

  • Research and interpret philanthropic interests of all $5M+ prospects through acquisition and analysis of pertinent annual reports, donor rosters, and other public sources
  •  

  • Manage prospect management system and practice, facilitation o principal and major donor prospects tracking and management
  • Provide input and advice regarding the development and implementation of a strategic plan for the identification and stewardship of all principal gifts

    Assist in the development of long-range, comprehensive strategies and timetables for principal gifts

    Supervise the activities of the Prospect Research Specialist
