Records beginning with 'The'

Hi Folks, can anyone advise what they do with companies/organisations that begin with 'The' when creating new records? Thanks.

Just remember to use the backslash instead of a space, not before or after the space. Doing the latter will cause two spaces to print between the the and the first word.

So the \\ works great in RE when it comes to searching for organizations as well as for alphabetizing. so you can decide where to put that \\ - it does not need to be only after the "The". If you have the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in your database you could do either of these.

The\\Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation

The Bill and Melinda\\Gates Foundation

The first would have you searching and sorting on Bill - the second on Gates. You should decide which you want.

Just note that for some strange oddball reason the sorting only works within RE. The "Sort Name" and "Sort Key" fields in Export do not account for the \\ so you have to deal with this in exported data all on your own.
