How to code gift in database

Options

With our Home Sponsorship program, the donor (organization) not only gives a monetary gift but also has their employees come out on-site to volunteer their time in helping build a home. It has always been that the organization provides lunch for their employees each day they are out building. Recently, two organizations sent in checks that included their donation and the estimated lunch costs. So instead of an $85,000 donation, the check total was for $85,900. One organization stated the remainder of the lunch funds will be donated to us while the other asked our corporate fundraiser to keep track of those funds for them

Amanda - I would not limit your audience for this question to only users of Blackbaud products. This would be a gift processing question regardless of what database you use.

There is a much bigger forum for gift processing questions at www.fundsvcs.org which is huge and has some really expert gift processors who do not all use RE that could answer this question. I see no reason the $900 is not a gift - it is just restricted to be used to pay for volunteer lunches but I am only one voice. i would ask this on fundsvcs for sure.
