New Constituent Solicitation Plan - Action Tracks, Business Rules, Solicit Codes?

Options
Hello, We often acquire new constituents through tribute gifts, and I'd like to tailor how we solicit them going forward. My initial thought is to use action tracks, but what I'm most concerned with is their solicit codes. My thought is that new constituents who are tribute acknoweldegees, with a valid address, should receive ONLY our newsletter, which is a soft ask, until they make a donation. Then I would want to re-code them to receive everything. I want to do this as automatically as possible, and my first idea is to create a business rule to pop up during gift entry. Would an Action Track or some other solution be better? Thanks!

Business rule is a good option.

Depending on how your org uses constituent codes, that might be another option.  We use a constituent code of 'memorial/tribute...' so that they do not flow into our solicitations unless we choose to include them.  I know everyone uses their constituent codes differently but this works for us.  I don't have a problem with re-coding or adding another constit code so they filter into where needed.

I don't use action tracks enough to know all the ins/outs.  Am sure you'll get a reply from someone with more expertise in that area.

In my opinion, no coding is necessary at all. I assume you either have the tribute module or use some other way to indicate someone was the recipient of a tribute gift, correct?

I am not exactly what criteria you use to mail your solicitations but somewhere in there you can query on a) is a tribute recipient and b) total gift amount = $0 and suppress this group from your solicitations (but not from your newsletter mailings). Once they give - they are no longer in the suppression group and would theoretically automatically included in your solicitations (depending on your other criteria for the mailing).
