SUMMARY

The director of data analysis and reporting supports the core values of the Emporia State University Foundation and assures quality services to students, faculty, staff, parents, outside organizations and communities.  He/she is a leader, accountable for maximizing the value of the Foundation's repository of more than 93,000 constituent records.  The director is responsible for directing and managing all aspects of the Foundation's donor, alumni, and gift database, The Raiser's Edge (Blackbaud), and for analyzing donor demographics, wealth, and prior giving data in order to recommend strategic action by the annual giving, major giving, and planned giving teams.

The Emporia State University Foundation supports the University in its private fundraising and charitable efforts for the purpose of supplementing and enhancing University programs, activities and educational opportunities.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

Reporting directly to the vice president for stewardship and administration of the Emporia State University Foundation, the director of data analysis and reporting manages one direct report (the pledge and gift coordinator).  The director is also responsible for providing training and support to all users of The Raiser's Edge.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The director of data analysis and reporting serves as the Foundation's subject matter expert and primary resource for donor, alumni, and gift data.  The director also manages the Foundation's constituent data management solutions including The Raiser's Edge and all related modules and add-on software products.  Primary responsibilities include:

1)      Data-Mining, Data Synthesis, Import/Export and Reporting

  1. Strategically survey the Foundation's donor and alumni data to identify (1) individual prospects for major gift solicitation and (2) prospect segments for annual and planned giving efforts.
  2. Design, validate, and execute both regular and special data imports, including but not limited to recent graduate data (from Ellucian's Banner) and call center results (from RuffaloCODY's CampusCall).  As needed, design, execute, and validate data exports.
  3. Design, validate, and execute both regular and special reports for use by and distribution to management, teammates, University colleagues, and constituents.

2)      Database Design, Data Integrity, User Training and Support

  1. Authorize and set up new data fields, table entries, and business rules to protect and maintain data integrity.
  2. Create, document, communicate, and monitor user compliance with data entry standards.
  3. Provide structured training and as-needed support to all users of The Raiser's Edge (both Foundation teammates and University colleagues).
