Position Overview:

The Database Administrator's primary responsibility is managing the school's Blackbaud databases and various other school databases. The Database Administrator will additionally provide technical support for the Admissions, Business, Communications and Development offices. The Database Administrator will report directly to the Director of Technology.

Job Responsibilities:

- Manage school's database systems, primarily centering around Blackbaud, including data flow between Blackbaud and other school data systems

- Manage other school data systems including but not limited to Destiny Library, Mass Communication and Content Management Systems, Learning Management Systems, and Parent Teacher Conference Registration System

- Document data architecture, data flow and business processes

- Creating new data flow and business processes and optimizing existing processes to streamline business operations and communications

- Create and support custom database reports for various staff

- Train staff and administrators on Blackbaud system usage, modules and reporting

- Produce monthly development and financial reports

- Create and support custom queries and exports

- Perform beginning- and end-of-year functions such as enrollment, progression, unenrollment

- Migrate students into the SIS; building classes and supporting the scheduling process

- Import and export data for various departments and programs

- Create progress reports and report cards

- Resolve operational problems of the systems and end-user technical questions with all Blackbaud applications and services

- Provide end-user technical support to all staff in the Admissions, Business, Communications and Development offices

- Interface with Blackbaud tech support to resolve technical issues

- Advise the Director of Technology on short and long-range technology issues

- Other duties to be assigned by Director of Technology and members of the Institutional Advancement Team

Job Requirements and Expectations:

- Minimum of four years as Database Administrator or similar position

- Deep working knowledge of SQL query language

- Strong familiarity with Blackbaud (Education Edge, Raiser's Edge, Registrar's Office and Financial Edge) is required. Additional informal and self-paced training will be provided.

- Strong business knowledge of development and financial office processes and procedures

- Strong working knowledge with Crystal Reports, Microsoft Word, Excel, including layout creation and scripting

- Needs strong organizational skills and must be detail-oriented, with ability to multitask and meet multiple competing deadlines

- Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database performance issues

- Works hours and vacation consistent with the Business Office and Office of Institutional Advancement

- Excellent communication skills

- Must have excellent teamwork skills

- Experience in an academic environment

- Bachelors Degree Required
