Duplicate Record in Groups

Options

Ok, I've been banging my head against the wall on this issue for a week....

I am working on the following report in Crystal in order to assist my Development Team in managing their Constituent portfolios:

For a given solicitor,

show all constituents for whom that solicitor is current assigned (Solicitor Relationship) and

group the constituents by whether or not that solicitor currently has an active proposal for that constituent

The issue is that when I try and group the constituents ("Has Active Proposal" vs. "Does Not Have Active Proposal") some constituents are duplicated. Namely, constituents that have BOTH active proposals and inactive proposals on their records. I want to be able to evaluate per unique constituent rather than per unique Constituent + Proposal.

Do any of you have any ideas about how I might go about getting these guys and gals into one, only one, of my above-described groups?

I hope that this makes sense. Any and all help appreciated!!

    Hi,

Have you tried changing the the proposal Join to Left outer join?  I find sometimes that helps with duplication.

Yes, my table joins are set to left outer. Thanks for the suggestion though!

I think your criteria for does not have an active proposal need to be re-done. It should not be "proposal is inactive" it should be something  more akin to "active proposal is not present". I am not explaining it well - nor can I give specific instructions on how to do it. But hopefully this triggers something that can help you.

You might have a couple of things going on here, so here are some questions for you:

What field are you using to determine active and not active?

What fields are you showing in your details section(s)?

If someone has both active and not active proposals, you want them to show in the "active" section, correct?

Hopefully your answers will help me figure out a solution for you.

    Thanks.
