exporting standard reports to crystal

Is it possible to export a standard report eg Campagin performance analysis, to crystal then edit it and be able to place it back in RE as a custom report? When you export I cannot see a way of saving a MDB file, only a rpt file.

 I think this was covered before but cannot find post

Repeating here in case anyone cross-references:

If you look closely at the results, you will see that the rpt file is neither constructed like a regular CR (e.g. extensive use of formula fields) nor references an external data file - the data is embedded (the "Save Data..." File menu option). If you check the database connection options, you'll confirm that there is no external connection.

In other words, the process does not work as you expected and isn't designed to do so.

I have heard that it is "possible" but not easy. You would need to create the export that would be needed to supply the data to the report and that, my friend, sounds easy but too often is not. I would fear getting into a tangled web if I even tried it.

I once tried to make a report similar to the Gift Entry Validation report (from scratch - not copying the existing one) and even found that Export does not provide all of the data that that report provides so I was unable to do it at all.
