Basic Function:

The Raiser's Edge Database and Development Operations Associate assists the Director of Development Operations in the administration of the Institute's constituent relationship management system.  This position is responsible developing advanced queries, reports, and lists for the Development office, for training Aspen Institute staff on Raiser's Edge and

For actively supporting and encouraging the use of Raiser's Edge and related Blackbaud products among staff across the Institute. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides database support, including troubleshooting and assisting staff across the Institute with the creation of advanced queries, lists, and reports.
  • Works with program staff on importing new constituent data into the database.
  • Ensures the timely and accurate processing of pledge reminders through the DC office and works with the Accounting department to maintain the integrity and effectiveness of the gift management process.  Prepares weekly gift entry reports to check the accuracy of gift data and coordinates regular reconciliations with Accounting data.
  • Supports effective donor stewardship by creating and refining, as needed, systems for tracking acknowledgement letters, reports to major donors, and recognition lists in the Annual Report and other publications.
  • Oversees training of Aspen Institute staff on Raiser's Edge.  This includes developing training tracks or sessions, and training curriculum and materials, and providing training to new employees and providing ongoing refresher training for existing staff.
  • Assists with database maintenance, including the oversight of security and data integrity and the management of code tables and duplicate records.
  • Assists with the development of detailed Raiser's Edge policies and procedures and enforces and maintains them, as needed
  • Assists with other administrative tasks for Development Operations, including the processing of bills and maintaining organized files.
  • General support of events and activities as part of the Development team.

Principal Interactions:

Routinely interacts with the entire Development team; Communications, Accounting, and Information Technology departments; and Program directors and staff.

Knowledge, Education and Experience:

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • College degree
  • At least 5 years of professional database administration experience in a nonprofit organization, ideally as part of a Development team
  • Proficiency with Raiser's Edge fundraising software required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to effectively train staff on The Raiser's Edge, including in a group setting
  • Ability to analyze and organize data efficiently with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Excellent oral communication, interpersonal, and writing skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and complex projects simultaneously
  • Understanding of privacy standards and ability to maintain confidentiality of constituent information
