API for Fundraising Pages

Does Convio have an update on if/when APIs will be available for fundraisign forms? We have some interesting ideas for building and hosting our own customized fundraising forms, just processing the fundraising transactions in Convio.

As a matter of fact... Yes! We'll be releasing a Donations API with the next release, to be deployed mid-April - May for all clients. I just posted a quick announcement on the topic.

Essentially, the API allows you to create a completely custom donation experience using whatever browser friendly code you prefer (HTML, Flash, AJAX) and Convio will fulfill the transaction requests through an existing Convio powered donation form. This "ghost" form is built using the standard Convio tools to supply the channel with which the donations will flow, allowing the standard reporting tools to capture all donations made through the API and take advantage of the validation and other key aspects of the ghost form. Your custom code communicates to the ghost form using the Donations API.

While it's not required for Convio to host your custom code, it is highly recommended. This way your secure form will reside on the same server which provides the transaction processing and avoids mis-perceived security holes (e.g. missing Verisign logo, IE lock, etc.).

I would be very interested in learning more about this. Is there any beta-testing examples to look at?

CI would LOVE to get some help getting off the ground. In face, we have a project in mind, but we just need some help implementing it. Also, i'd love to get some practice for a larger project down the road. Can we set up a call?

We have a site already built using cookies and url calls we would like to rebuild it using the donation api. Can i have my account manager set up a call with you. I was really looking for some documentation but didn't find any is any posted as of now or is it all still being worked on?

Hello everyone on this thread, have you check out our new API docs yet? Go to: http://open.convio.com/api/ and take a look at the Donation API and the SSO API. We would LOVE your feedback, ideas, questions, critique, etc.

I've heard about several possible projects from various clients to use the Donation API. Who's going to be first??? If you would like to discuss the features and functions of this API on a call, please have your account manager set up a call, I would love to brainstorm ideas with you and explain any details. If you run into problems implementing your custom donation forms, please post those questions to this community and together we'll find the answers you need.
