Welcome to the community @Rhonda Hale! I think we are going to need more information with what you are asking for? Are you marking them as such via an attribute/custom field, or is there another field you are looking for?

We have a yearly Gala for our donors. We have people who sponsor at certain dollar amount levels. These donations are part charitable and some non charitable. When they come in through gift management, we need to split those amounts out. We cannot figure out how to do that.

@Rhonda Hale You might be able to change the receipt amount. If you have them going to a different fund via the split fund functionality, I think that is available. There isn't a way to add benefits in web view yet.

They are the same fund. Would the receipt amount be the charitable? If so, how do we add the non charitable

I am not sure if there is a good way to do this in Webview yet. There wasn't at one point.

In the Database view, you could use market value for the non-charitable payment and gift portion for the charitable part. That would be the only way I can think of at this time to address your need, but I agree that there should be something to address this need better in the future.

  • Rhonda Hale you have two fields on a gift record: Gift Amount and Receipt Amount. The Receipt amount is the tax-deductible portion. In letters, you can either report how much is deductible (receipt amount) or do the math and report the fair market value of the goods and services the donor received in exchange for their gift.

Dariel referred to the benefit and said that it is not available in webview yet which is true. On a gift record in database view, there is a “Benefits” button you can use to record the fair market value, i.e., non-charitable. It is a little bit cumbersome to do, and most organizations I have worked with just report the receipt, or charitable amount.

(not a real gift, just FYI)

Thank you all for your help. We will look at this today. Most people who are sponsors just send a check and we enter through the data base gift entry. We have a certain amount for each level of sponsorship that is broken into charitable and non charitable. This may be the first time that we have had people pay through the online portal.
