Opportunity Created Accidentally

Options

Hi all,

We just went through cycle management and in the process a couple opportunities were created and it turns out that we won't have funding for those this next cycle. Since we can't delete opportunities, what is your institution's best practice for how to manage these?

  • @Christina Mohler I would probably just archive it.

  • @Christina Mohler If there is a high possibility that it will open for a future award cycle, we leave as is without a start and end date. It doesn't seem to get in the way for us because we create our opportunity grid views by a start date. If it won't open in the near future, we would archive it.

  • @Christina Mohler we make the opportunity “Always Hidden” and list 0 awards for $0, that way the students don't see it and the Financial Aid Office doesn't accidentally award it. I prefer to keep them active in the system rather than archive. When we do cycle management next year they won't disappear, and I don't have to recreate it all over again if the donor does eventually fund it.
