Good morning,

Does anyone include a statement on their scholarship application (or somewhere else) that asks applicants to acknowledge that if receive a scholarship but withdraw or go on a leave of absence they are at risk for the scholarship money being rescinded? If so, would you be willing to share the language you use?

Hi there! Some of our departments have a post-acceptance agreement that students sign to say they've read and understood the terms for the award. That is usually only for awards that are serving as an internship or assistantship award or for students involved in some kind of student organization, etc.

However, we do have this checkbox question in our General Application that would hopefully help them understand that they have to be enrolled to receive the award. I understand that all awards issued on the scholarship search engine will be first applied against costs (tuition, fees, housing, etc.) associated with the student account balance at Eastern Illinois University up to the total cost of attendance. Any remaining amount will be disbursed in a financial aid refund.”
