CUUI
We are in the process of implementing BAM. We have purchased the option for Creating Users Upon Import (CUUI). Anyone using CUUI willing to share their experience (pros/cons) with it?

We use CUUI and it works well. It allows us to match draft students to opportunities and then reach out to them and encourage them to apply to specific opportunities. It also allows us to see who could be matched to an auto match opportunity if they have not yet done the general app yet. We like this feature and it helps us communicate to students who could be potentially eligible for an opportunity. Hope this helps0

Our experience if similar to Michael's team. It is helpful to have CUUI in place to help create potential eligible applicant pools for some of our harder to award scholarships. Not all students will complete the general application, but they can still be matched into the applicant pool if the opportunity is configured correctly. One downside is that we pull in more student records than we need to. For example, we import all student data for any prospective student that applies to the institution. Unfortunately, the only way we know of to get rid of student data is through the yearly cycle management process. We try to educate our departments about what data to look for to identify active students, but inevitably one of the students who never matriculated will be awarded at some point in the year.

Hi Andrew and Michael,
Thank you for the info! When announcing that a scholarship cycle is open, do you tell students they should apply and not publicize that they have a drafted application already? I would like to tell everyone they should apply to encourage engagement. It seems like they wouldn't really know the difference until they log on and see a ‘draft’ application.

BAM has an active user field. When we do out Nightly update, we flag any withdrawn or graduated students as Inactive.

We used the product for a few years without CUUI and implemented it two cycles ago. It's been absolutely crucial in identifying students who haven't yet applied but would qualify for harder-to-award scholarships. We are able to match to drafted apps, and either reach out to the student(s) to encourage them to submit an application, or simply offer them the award if no additional information is needed. It does sometimes pull in students who aren't actually eligible (e.g. they've applied for admission but not yet enrolled in classes), so there's some filtering that the Financial Aid Office has to do, but overall the CUUI has been tremendously helpful and worth the extra investment.

Hi Arly,
We do our best to shout from the rooftops once the application cycle is open for students. We send emails, post on social media, update our website, and engage our college/department colleagues in communicating with students. Some of our conditional applications deadlines differ, so we also update the custom text on the login page with the dates that specific conditional applications close.

Hi Arly, I've been using CUUI for about two years now and I LOVE IT - it is a great tool to analyze how many students aren't applying - what group of students you might not reach - how to ID specific majors/geographic areas/GPA's for identifying potential applicants that you can push notices out to. Depending on the information in your software it also allows me to compare demographics of scholars to that of the school. It's probably one of the most useful tools I have adopted.
