Award Management Reviewer Training

Options
Good morning. I was wondering if anyone had a powerpoint or system in place that they use to train scholarship review groups on how to review the opportunities? If not, how do you train your reviewers? My Board Chair wants me to conduct a formal Zoom training at the end of the month so just looking for ideas. Thanks for the help.

  • Hi Stacy! We don't do a formal training with PowerPoint, but I've created PDFs of articles from the Knowledgebase so I can share that directly with reviewers to reference later. For direct trainings, I do a screenshare in Zoom or Teams and use the Become User feature to show them active reviews. Happy to discuss our process further if that helps! You can reach me at bowens@advservices.mstate.edu if you'd like to chat!
  • Hello! I hold two optional Zoom tutorial sessions during the first week of our review period -- a morning session and an afternoon session. I share my screen and assume the role of Reviewer; I don't prepare a powerpoint. I show how to navigate through the system, show the side-by-side view, and submit values for our rubric questions. It is optional because I have reviewers who have done this for several years. I don't record my Zoom sessions but I could possibly think about doing that. It's not really a "formal" presentation although I do have a plan of how I present the information. There is also plenty of time for Q & A which seems to be the most important part. Most participants attend because they have a specific question.

I also have a document with very general directions that I send out to all my reviewer chairs prior to the review period. I encourage them to share it with their review committees as it covers how to log in, how to navigate, how to review, etc.

  • Stacy,

I just added the following to the end of every automated reviewer assignment email:
If you need assistance using the Blackbaud Award Management reviewer portal, we encourage you to watch this short video (3 min 40 sec): “Reviewing Applications:” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efVmRVfNc5E&list=PLALjs-CzkPwoFWFcYQ90BkzEJFTZ6msS5&index=24.

  • Thank you Bailey. I tried to email you but it came back undeliverable. Would you mind emailing me by chance at slbazman@hfcc.edu

I really appreciate your time :)

  • Stacy, I worked with our IT department to create this video, https://in.nau.edu/its/blackbaud-award-management/. I also supply our reviewers with a FAQs sheet, the reviewing matrix and a list of the opportunities' criteria.
  • I have PDF with screenshots and instructions that I provide as needed/requested. We also have a powerpoint presentation. We conduct a zoom training by first going over the powerpoint and then sharing my screen and assuming the role of a reviewer. I usually share the powerpoint with the attendees after so they have it for reference
