Using AcademicWorks to make CARES/Education Stabilization Fund Awards

Options
Is anyone considering using the platform to make awards to students from the CARES/Education Stabilization Funds?  Are you using a Flexible Application?

  • This is our plan, although we are in the very beginning stages. In discussions about how best to gather applications from students and match it with information from our school database (PeopleSoft), I suggested we use the flexible application since we haven't utilized it yet. In this time of working remotely, it also seemed like the easiest way to assign the applications to various campus reviewers for decision making and awarding....not to mention fund tracking.

Not sure how much help I am since we haven't set it up and started using it yet, but I'm glad you asked the question. I'd like to read other responses too.

  • We are looking into this but our current emergency grant program already has an application process in place so we may leverage their system instead since they are already collecting data needed for reporting. I have a meeting this afternoon to discuss the details but it looks like we may head that route since it would not cost us any additional money or additional time to setup. BB sells them in units of five and I believe they are $1,000 each/annually so it may be cost prohibitive at this time.

  • We understand that this is an unprecedented time for your institutions.  We have a number who have already setup emergency fund applications using their flexible application included in their package.  If you have already used the flexible application for another purpose and need 1 additional available for your emergency fund, please contact support and Blackbaud will provide one for you at no additional cost given these extenuating circumstances.  Please let me know if you have any questions!
