Convincing my team we should use Events

Options

Is there anyone who uses Events (either the basic, free functions or the full-blown option) who would be willing to let me pick your brain sometime after bbcon concludes? We use OLX for online giving and currently, if an event requires more info than what is collected in OLX, our University Marketing & Communication Dept develops another (non-RE) form. Participants then have to click a link to enter payment info in OLX. Alumni and Athletics have been hosting so many events, I'm trying to find a way to make things more efficient. There has been hesitation by our Alumni Office about using RE: Events and I want to make a case for it, if possible. If you have time to discuss the capabilities and limitations of Events from a customer perspective, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks much.

Hi Lori - I’d be happy to share my experience with the events module. Feel free to send me a DM with your email.

  • Hi Lori,

Once you speak with Austen and any others, I would be interested in your conclusions.

We are not using RE Event options either and Events are an item out there we can improve upon as well, but not certain if RE is the whole solution or part of a hybrid solution.

    Good luck! Thank you,

  • Willing to share our experience also. :) DM and we can email or call.
  • We have both OLX and event donations links directly to the Event module. It was a game-changer for us. I am willing to share my experience as well.

  • I can give some good reasons to use Event module - such as centralized information, better tracking for lapsed donors vs. engaged constituents who just haven't given a gift recently. And the seating module is a lifesaver for formal dinner planning. However, it does take more manual entry time than just keeping a list in Excel. I'll be happy to share thoughts.
