How do Givesmart and Givebutter with with NXT Events?

Options

Hi all! My events team is looking for a new events platform to use in conjunction with NXT. We are currently choosing between Givebutter and Givesmart.

Does anyone have any experience with how these platforms work in conjunction with NXT? Or any insight into which of these platforms might work better?

We would like to use this platform to help with registration, text to give, auction, night-of raffle etc.

My gut reaction is to suggest Givebutter. We work with a lot of organizations that use it, and they find it flexible and intuitive. They are using other fundraising CRMs that WILL integrate with Givebutter, but I do not believe it will integrate with RENXT in any meaningful way. You will very likely need to export data from GiveButter and import into RE. Check my work on that though.

Givesmart has a nice interface to your supporters but I can't speak to how easy it is to set up from a staff perspective. Integration with RENXT is only available with their GiveSmart Fundraise product (not GiveSmart Events) and requires an additional fee of $695 / year. They have a partnership with Zeidman to use Importacular, so I would also not really consider that to be “an integration”.

Reports that you can extract from GiveSmart do not align well with RENXT either. I can't remember the details, but I think the report that provides the lump sum amount of money someone contributed to the event does not contain the details of what they purchased. For instance, if they paid $500 for two tickets, bought a $100 raffle and paid $400 for an auction prize, the report ONLY shows their gift of $1000 and no breakdown. But the report that provides the details, is missing some other information that is critical. Something along those lines.

When you are considering options, also make sure you are VERY clear on your integration needs. Do you want only the event transactions (ticket purchase, raffle purchases, auction purchases, event donations, etc.) to end up in RE on the gift record, or were you hoping for registration information to be added as well? By “event registration”, I mean the guests of an attendee or sponsor, or seating arrangements if applicable. Think about your specific needs and then see if the vendor and their integration can meet those needs.

    Good luck!

  • @Lestra Atlas We used to use GiveSmart. No actual integration, but we could import through importomatic. It didn't work very well. We typically just entered manually (which was faster). Ultimately, GiveSmart was pretty clunky and we moved to Funraise (also not optimal).
