Best practice - Entering sponsors as Registrants or Sponsors?

Options

What is the more common practice for managing sponsor tables in RE/RENXT for large event – entering sponsors as "Sponsors" and their attendees/guests as “Sponsored by” or entering sponsors as "Registrants" and their attendees/guests as “Guest of.”

This is my 2nd event at my current organization, and we have historically entered sponsors as Registrants, I believe bc of at least two issues: 1) according to a Knowledgebase article, "Sponsors aren't yet in web view for RE NXT Events" and 2) entering them as Registrants instead of Sponsors enables us to add their guests as "Guest of" vs “Sponsored by.”

Are there other reasons anyone is aware of?

Suggestions about this practice?

Update: Thanks, all…so helpful to get your confirmation that this is how others are managing the data and the shared reasons why. Grateful for your inputs!

we do a ton of event from gala dinner to golf tournament.

we use registrant and guest instead of sponsor and sponsored

no particular reason, just stricking with one avoid the need to output multiple additional columns

We enter the sponsor as the registrant and then add their guests. We use the Participation Level to specify any other details about the sponsorship level or if there is an event specific contact for that sponsor.

  • @Christine Unruh we also enter sponsors as registrants- in addition to what Alex indicated, I find that “sponsor” and “sponsored by” can be very confusing terminology- events are confusing enough, particularly in database view (I do like some of the improvements they've made to the way events are viewed and structured in webview, it seems easier for the average user to understand)

We do the same. Sponsors are Registrants because any time I've tried to use the ‘Sponsors’ category, I've had problems.
