Having real trouble with fundraiser ID in flow

Hello all,

I am really hoping to find some help with this, because I literally have no idea why this is happening.

Long story short, the flow I am working on looks for if a fundraiser is assigned on the record, and if so, creates an action and then sends an email notifying about the action. I have a condition in my flow that is looking for the fundraiser ID (the system record ID) of the fundraiser assigned to the record I am targeting in my test flow. The condition continues to return false. However, when I change the condition to look for the specific type of fundraiser on that record, and then output fundraiser ID in the email the flow is supposed to send, it outputs that same system record ID for the fundraiser that the condition claims is not valid/present!

I have spent four-plus hours trying to figure this out and am at the end of my wits about it. Thoughts about what is going on here? Thanks for any help you can offer.

@Jana Birckbichler - Welcome to BB Community! The issue boils down to differing data types - how IDs are stored in RE NXT vs how PA interrupts numbers; the error codes received for this are notoriously unhelpful. Using a data type expression, you either need to convert the RE NXT ID into an Integer (Number) or convert the number PA is comparing against the ID into a String (Text).

Here's what I recommend: Using the String data type Expression convert the number to compare against the Fundraiser ID into text. It'll look like this –

An additional recommendation - Rather than basing this off a Web View list, utilize the other fields available within the “List Gifts” action (particularly those under ‘Advanced Options’) to bring in only gifts added x or more days ago + other criteria. This will reduce the number of conditionals and apply to each's needed to run your flow, enabling it be more efficient.

Second Austen's recommendation to use List Gift action to filter, will make your flow cleaner and less “layer”

PA does some assumption when it is conditioning of dynamic content and literals. So the best thing to do is to not let it does the assumption. Austen recommendation ensure you are comparing apple to apple.

Though my question is your flow's logic and what you trying to do, you have specifically a fundraiser's id typed in, is it your intention to only have this flow run for 1 fundraiser?

If not, assuming you are trying to create a constituent action for any fundraiser that is listed as the gift's fundraiser, then you don't even need “Condition 2” action. You can simply just go ahead and create the constituent action with the dynamic content of Fundraiser ID on the gift.

Thanks for your response. No, the intention is to build it out for multiple fundraisers. So each of the fundraisers will have a different set of actions and emails if they match the condition. I am just testing it with this one first. So the condition is necessary to make sure their action/email is customized to them.

You want me to review how I determined there was a problem, what the problem was, and what the solution to the problem was? At what point would I do this? I can only attend for the first hour of the meeting, so I'm not sure if that makes a difference.
