Automatically splitting up revenue for event transactions

Options

We have a series of events throughout the year. In an effort to encourage early adoption of ticket buying - we are looking to try to create a bundle of tickets - ie one transaction, four events. We did this for this year - but it required staff to go into each transaction, manually spit the coding (we track each of our event revenue into separate appeals) and then had to manually add each person to the event registration.

Has anyone had success with (or know if there's a way to) have an event transaction to automatically split the $ based on pre-determined amounts, and then add folks to events? It's a lot, I know but we want to expand the offering, but can't handle the manual staff time.

@Kelly Hunter we have not done something like this at my school, so unfortunately I cannot help with that. I did remember a different thread asking about multiple events for something like a weekend reunion. You can read that thread here. I don't think it's exactly what you're looking for, but it might give you some ideas.

As for automatically splitting money, I do not know of a way to do this. Currently the NXT event forms only allow assignment of a Campaign and Fund. When I go into Gift Management to approve the registrations, I can adjust things there by adding an appeal. If you know what appeals you need you can always do the splitting there, which it seems you already have tried. Unfortunately, I do not believe there is another way to split things between separate events, though. You would still need to register for each one. Event forms are tied to one specific event and cannot cross between events.

I wonder if there's anything that can be done outside the box? Perhaps importing lists from one event to another instead of manually entering each? I have not had time to learn much about it, but perhaps there is a way to get Power Automate involved?

I don't feel like I have helped but maybe it sparked a new thought. Good luck!

  • @Miki Martin thanks so much. I think that i'm less worried about the event registration part (you're right that could be done more easily - importing closer to the event with the full list) it's definitely more of a revenue thing.

and you're right on the appeal. not being able to set the appeal at the configuration page is frustrating too!
