How do you chose phone type on NXT event Registration form

Hello!

I cannot figure out how you chose the phone type for the NXT event registration form and they are coming in with a type I do not want used.

Does anyone know how to do this?

in NXT go to Tools - Settings -Phone Mapping - I've set a specific type of phone and email from NXT forms so I know that's were they came from and that way they don't “interfere” with our legacy coding

I found that and it is pulling from this Other phone type (classification is Other in the Tools) and it does not allow me to change it. I think the new registrations are getting this type as I'm not getting mailing addresses and the other phone type is for US/Canada

I've seen some conflicting information in the Blackbaud knowledgebase about this.

Just last week, I read a link indicating that the phone type cannot have a format, such as below:

I can't find the link to that right now, but I did find this one, which also references formats. I'm not working with anyone who is using web forms or has asked for assistance with them, so don't have my own test case to share. But the formatting may be interfering a little bit with your ability to select a phone type.

We had issues with phone type on our NXT event reg last year, too. I was told by support there had to be a phone type with no set format to handle ‘the international’ numbers.

I created a “reunion” phone type that I could easily search for and clean up after the event as most #s entered were already on alumni records. It was just another issue with the NXT registrations. I though I saw that they had an update on it some time ago.

@Karen Diener that fixed it!! I set up a new phone type with no format called Online Reg Form and was able to switch it!!

@Elaine Tucker - any idea why this ‘no format’ phone type is getting added to records with North American mailing addresses? There is not already a Mobile phone type on their record (that is the type for NA reg form records)

@Joanne Felci if I'm understanding correctly, you've got a response of Not attending as an option on your NXT form; if that is the case NXT is adding the phone number because the registrant “responded” using the NXT Form. We have this as an option on some of our events, so when the response is “Not attending” we have to go in an update the response to NA (do not register in dbview).

@Elaine Tucker actually the person did register for the event but it is pulling their phone number in under the outside of North America phone type I had set up, even though the record has a US address

@Joanne Felci there is some requirement for NXT registrations that the phone type be unformatted. We had issue of them coming in as unknown several years ago when we used NXT reg form.
I renamed the unformatted one so I knew which #s were coming in that way as likely were duplicates on record.
Not sure if that's what you're experiencing. I think there is a KB article about it. I ended up contacting support to find out what was happening.
