Simple Question/Confirmation: Power Bi Blackbaud Connector Only Available in Desktop and Not Web Portal?

Hello! I was hoping that some one could confirm that the BB Connector is only available in desktop PowerBI and not through the PowerBi web portal. I am successful with the desktop connector and it works, but my IT department wanted me to confirm that it is not accessible via the web PowerBi, Get Data option.

Hi @Christine Prete, yes, the direct connector is only available for the desktop version. But, you can build reports online using the dataset once it’s initially published to the service.

Hi Matt,

Thank you again for responding! Do you need to build a new connector per workstation? Our IT department did install the desktop version of BI for me, and I copied over the mez file created for my first connector but it is not working. I wanted to confirm this answer first before moving forward to create a new connection, and if it is a no, and the same one can be used then I can attribute this not working to our Citrix virtual desktop environment that we work in and I will need IT's assistance. Thanks!

Hi @Christine Prete, you should be able to use the same connector. Are you getting an error when you try and use it? Or are you just not able to access the connector once you get into Power BI?
