Syncing Azure with Blackbaud User Accounts

Options

Is there a way that we can configure Microsoft Azure so that Usernames, Passwords, First Name, Last Name or (fields we decide we want) to flow in to our Microsoft Azure active directory through an API?

  • Hi @Alex Basiliere, I've not tried to do this but I've got some initial thoughts on ways to do it.

If I'm understanding the direction you're wanting, you can use Power Automate to collect the information you're wanting from NXT for each employee and use the Azure AD connector to update the information their AD profile.

Depending on the information that you're wanting out of NXT, it may take some work on the front end to construct the appropriate object with all of the information you're wanting.

  • Hello Matt,

Thank you for the detailed reply. Do you think that solution would work with Education Management? Our organization is mainly working with Blackbaud Education Management. I ask because NXT and Education Management do talk to each other?

Hey, Alex, this may not be quite what you're looking for, but thought I'd add this to the mix. You can link BBID to Active Directory. This means that anything using BBID leverages the information already in Active directory, such as passwords. (It's Active Directory → BBID rather than the other way around). See
