Merging Duplicate Participants in Events

Options

Hi everyone -

My organization and I are fairly new to the events module in NXT and I've run into this situation enough time that it's making me pull my hair out.

Scenario: Jane Doe registers for our event through our online web form, then returns at a later date to purchase again. This time, however, she uses her maiden name, or a nickname, or misspells her name. RE creates a duplicate account for her. I want to merge the two, but the database will not allow me to merge records that both have registered for the same event.

How do I tell the system that this information should belong on the same record? Can I merge participants within the event?

Hi @Cassidy Nogueira - Check out this post for more information about the Automatic Constituent Matching tool and on how to handle the side-effects, new constituents created from donation and event forms.

For your specific scenario, you will need to delete one of the registrations from the event record prior to trying to merge - recommend you record any additional information included in the registration (e.g. answers to participant options) if they exist. Then you will need to merge the constituents within the Merge tool in Web View, then finish the merge in Database View (the post above includes my process for this), and manually update the existing registration within the Event Record.

  • Thank you, Austen! My issue lies when people register under incorrect names when their registration fees total $0. Therefore, the incorrect dupe records are bypassing the web batches.

Do you know how to merge the event information in database view? Or is there a way to merge those accounts in web view via the events tab?
