HCZ’s Development Department is seeking a committed Development Operations Associate to support the database management, gift processing, and donor research efforts of our dynamic team. In this full-time position, the successful individual will play a key role in supporting the Database and Research Managers and will be an integral member of the Development team. The ideal candidate will provide project management and administrative support and will assist the Development Operations team with all activities performed in collaboration with the Major Gifts and Institutional Giving teams.

The successful candidate will balance the ability to work independently with effective collaboration across Development and the organization. This position is ideal for early-career growth in nonprofit and fundraising operations. The candidate should have a passion for contributing to the mission of a pre-eminent anti-poverty organization, which is a leader in New York City and nationally in place-based solutions to promote economic, social, and racial equity. The position reports dually to the Database and Research Managers and will be a valued member of a supportive Development Operations team driven by an ethos of learning, collaboration, professional development, and continuous improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Under the guidance of the Database Manager, execute the overall gift processing function for the Development team.
  • Responsible for gift entries and assisting with relevant data management, to be used for revenue reporting and financial audits.
  • Execute the acknowledgment letter process to completion from gift receipt through signing-printing-mailing-e-filing for all private giving, including coordination with Relationship Managers, CDO, and office of the CEO for timely acknowledgment of all online, transferred and mailed gifts.
  • Assist Database Manager with all aspects of data input and analytics as needed.
  • Assist Research Manager with projects and tasks, including the preparation of donor and meeting briefings, profiles, and reports.
  • Support the Research Manager to optimize the database for research input and research-driven donor analytics.
  • Provide support to manage audience segmentation to implement donor outreach and mailings.
  • Provide general administrative support for the Development team as needed.
  • Support the Development team at fundraising events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualification, Skills, and Knowledge Requirements

  • 2-3 years of related professional experience
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with keen attention to detail
  • Excellent time and project management skills and ability to handle multiple projects
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge or equivalent CRM software a plus
  • Passion for HCZ’s mission
