Position Title: Social Media Coordinator

Reporting to: Associate Director of Marketing and Communications

Employment Type: Full-time, Non-Exempt

Pay: $40,000 - $43,000

Required Skills
  • Minimum 2 years online marketing or social media experience required

  • Photography knowledge is required

  • Animal handling experience is preferred

  • Associates or Bachelors degree in related major preferred

  • Proficient in design software including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator

  • Ability to work both from home from own computer/own software and at the shelter location

  • Proficient in Google App applications

  • Up to date in best practices for all social media channels

  • Working knowledge of typography, photo cropping/sizing, image manipulation, digital illustration, 2D composition and color, basic videography and editing

  • The ability to write clearly and accurately using proper grammar

  • Creativity and willingness to try new approaches and receive constructive feedback

  • Self-starter who is able to work well independently

  • Must be able to work in a crowded, busy environment if necessary

  • Comfortable with public speaking and on camera work

  • Accuracy in all financials, data collection and numbers is required

  • Ability to multitask

  • Strong customer service skill

Responsibilities
  • Develop and oversee the social media strategy and implementation across all of Humane Society of Utah’s social media channels
  • Create and curate content that resonates with target audiences and communicates the brand's ethos to grow our follower base, increase engagement and drive brand awareness and equity

  • Oversee and manage community engagement and comments across our digital content and social media channels

  • Communicate with followers, answer questions, interact and execute creative direct engagement to grow the movement and build loyalty

  • Reliably communicate with Associate Director of Marketing and Communications and other staff members who may have project requests

  • Oversee photography program including:

    • Ensuring photos of all adoptable pets

    • Recruiting, training, and scheduling volunteers

    • Taking photos to assist in marketing objectives

    • Event photography as needed

  • Coordinate writing, updating, and maintaining long-term resident animal bios on website

  • Assist with securing stories, before/after photos, adoption photos

  • Work with others on the Development team to meet goals by providing input and creativity, and commitment to fundraising

  • Maintain brand standards and Humane Society of Utah’s values in your work

  • Work cooperatively with all volunteers, recognizing the talent and commitment they bring to the organization
