Position Title: Development Associate
Reports To: Director of Development

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Development Associate is responsible for database management, creating and maintaining database policies and procedures, advancement reporting, prospect management, gift recording, and data integrity. The Development Associate also works with other members of the Development team in upholding high standards for donor stewardship for both individual and institutional donors as well as assisting in mail lists and donor research.
QUALIFYING CHARACTERISTICS
The ideal candidate must have knowledge of fundraising principals and practices and an aptitude for the management of information systems in support of a development program. The candidate must also have a demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, meet designated deadlines and possess exceptional attention to detail with excellent organizational, analytical, and planning skills. Strong self-motivation, the ability to work as a team member and strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential to success in this position. Demonstrated experience with discretion and trustworthiness due to frequent contact with confidential material is required.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
The ideal candidate must possess an Associate’s Degree, although a Bachelor’s degree or higher is preferred. Candidates must have a minimum of two years of experience in fundraising, gift processing and database management. Experience with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge is preferred.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Maintain the integrity of the donor database, including accurate and timely gift entry and database maintenance
- Manage all donor records; process and manage donor and gift information; track all donation activity, from both online and mail donations; manage tribute program and matching gifts
- Draft, print and mail accurate and timely gift acknowledgement letters
- Produce accurate and timely fundraising reports and donor analyses
- Assist with research of prospective donors and prepare reports on donors
- Assist with fundraising events and mailings – attend and track such events in the database
- Analyze and segment donor lists for electronic mailings, direct mail and other communications
- Work with other offices within the school on behalf of Raiser’s Edge (i.e., technology, finance, admissions, etc.).
- Regularly reconcile records with the business office to ensure accounts are balanced
- Provide administrative support to Director of Development and other Development office staff as needed
- Engage in continuing education courses to stay up to date on effective management of the Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge database system
- Perform other duties as assigned or needed
