POSITION SUMMARY:

The Development Operations Database Administrator oversees the implementation, maintenance and day-to-day use of the Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation’s and The Rosenbach’s CRM database, Altru, as well as third party tools that support the system. This role is responsible for the integrity of donor and supporter records and overall data hygiene, realizing data management best practices and ensuring optimal configuration of the system to achieve efficiencies across both institutions.

The Development Operations Database Administrator conducts user training sessions, creates system documentation and standard operating procedures, and is the first line of Altru technical support. This individual will fulfill complex and intricate reporting needs by creating and customizing queries and exports and they will streamline operations by managing imports of data captured outside of the system. The ideal candidate is a team player and has expertise in operating all functional areas of Altru, analyzing and mapping data, and ensuring that the database effectively tracks donor and supporter information. Advanced knowledge of fundraising and membership operations is preferred.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Act as the primary staff resource regarding Altru software components and provide technical support and customer service. Escalate unresolved issues to Blackbaud Customer Support and/or Director of Development Operations.
  • In partnership with the Director of Development Operations, analyze organizational database processes and procedures and make recommendations for improvements in efficiency and effectiveness. Actively work to troubleshoot and collaborate with others, ensuring business needs have been paired with effective solutions.
  • Drive ongoing refinements to data integrity, including large and small-scale clean up and maintenance projects, in keeping with best practices and in response to evolving user needs.
  • Build complex queries, exports, and reports as requested in a broad range of formats.
  • Update constituent information through global updates/adds and import data tracked outside of the system.
  • Correct and update constituent records, such as change in contact information, solicitation preferences and relationships to other constituents.
  • Lead training and documentation for all Altru users.
  • Manage user accounts and security roles within Altru and other third party tools.
  • Build programs and events in the system and create the corresponding web forms.
  • Oversee data management of Luminate Online supporter information and the flow of data between the system and Altru.
  • Process gifts as needed and provide support for the membership and direct mail programs and general Development Operations activities.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of Development Operations and/or database administrator experience including data imports/exports, complex queries and custom reporting is required
  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • Fluent with Microsoft Office Suite with advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Experience with Altru is highly preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of fundraising and membership operations is preferred
  • Confidentiality and discretion working with sensitive information
  • Ability to work collaboratively and patiently with end users and understand their needs
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to problem solve and work independently with a high level of accuracy
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability and desire to provide superior customer service
  • Experience with gift processing and receipting is preferred
  • Experience with Luminate Online, Omatic tools, SQL and data visualization software such as Tableau are assets
