The Foundation for Angelman Syndrome Therapeutics (FAST) is comprised of a team of dedicated and talented parents, scientists, and professionals focused on advancing research for a rare disease – Angelman Syndrome. Unlike most non-profits, FAST is a cutting-edge organization that has turned science into clinical trial within 10 years. We will continue our commitment to cure Angelman Syndrome through innovation, developing new therapies, and making a positive impact for those supporting and living with this rare disorder.

Because of our ambition to accelerate the cure, we are currently searching for an experienced marketing professional to join our team in fulfilling the mission to a cure.

OVERVIEW

In this newly created role, we are looking for a Marketing leader that can both create marketing strategies based on FAST’s goals, as well as follow through to execution. The Director of Marketing will be responsible for brand building, content marketing, communication channels and programs, as well as marquee events. The Director of Marketing will liaise with other FAST organizations globally to drive alignment in strategy, as well as share relevant content that can be easily scaled.

The Director of Marketing will collaborate with program and development leadership, and report into the Chief Executive Officer.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As the Director of Marketing, you are responsible for developing and implementing strategies and tactics across four key areas:

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop approach to branding, storytelling, programs and events to advance the organization’s mission and vision.
  • Continuously evaluate the marketplace, highlighting competitive intelligence to identify marketplace trends and shifts for internal audiences.
  • Responsible for managing a Marketing budget.
  • Manage vendors to generate additional impact to project(s) as needed.
  • Manage issues and crisis communications efforts, providing timely and effective talking points and media training for leadership.

Integrated Marketing

  • Develop integrated marketing plan for key initiatives and programs such as annual fundraiser, in-person/digital conference. This includes market research, messaging, branded content, donor stewardship.
  • Drive alignment across internal teams, ensuring operational excellence in project planning and execution.
  • Contribute to content creation across a breadth of formats including print and multi-media.
  • Leverage a variety of channels for promotion, including PR, digital, print, and social media.
  • Create, maintain, and conduct analytics reporting across multiple platforms and extract key insights for future campaign development and go-to-market strategies, complete with formal proposals and recommendations on tactics.

Communications and community management

  • Develop social media approach, maintain presence (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Linkedin), and manage community by posting content and engaging with the audience.
  • Create copy and graphic content for owned, earned and paid channels, such as blog and social media.
  • Build efficiency through development of owned media assets.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with audiences in the research, regulatory, legal and clinical fields to coordinate strategic efforts.
  • Develop and share best practices in new media technologies and tools; develop metrics and other assessment tools to measure the effectiveness of our communications efforts.

Branding awareness

  • Oversee branding and identity initiatives, based on a sophisticated understanding of marketing strategies and trends that align with our goals and mission.
  • Drive efforts to continue to differentiate the FAST brand.
  • Build brand awareness and perception with new and existing audiences to advance FAST’s mission.

ABOUT YOU

The Marketing Manager will have at least 8+ years of relevant experience, including creating and implementing content across a wide array of platforms, conducting needs analysis and customer-centric feedback processes, as well as working collaboratively across teams.

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Advanced degree in related field preferred.
  • Experience with non-profit marketing strategies and donor communications in a global setting.
  • Results-driven with the ability to set clear priorities, delegate, and effectively manage people and processes.
  • Strong communicator, keen analytic, excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven executive maturity with the ability to work in a rapidly changing environment, collaborate well with a team while able to work independently and remotely.
  • Experience with the creation and manipulation of marketing automation and CRM tools
  • Oversight or experience with design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
  • Willingness to travel domestically, with roles in community events including our research summits and yearly fundraiser.
