Jackson Hole Classical Academy seeks a Director of Business & Operations
The Director of Business & Operations will ensure the Academy runs at maximum efficiency and with organizational health in order to facilitate the faculty’s work as educators. This position is responsible for managing and growing the Academy’s resources, developing and implementing operational and strategic plans, and providing accountability so that procedures are carried out with excellence. The Director of Business & Operations is on the Academy’s Leadership Team and reports to the Head of School. At the request of the Head of School, the Director of Business & Operations may present reports and proposals to the JHCA Board of Directors at quarterly board meetings.
Responsibilities
Human Resources and Operations, with Head of School
• Define, implement and revise operational policies for the organization
• Work with Directors and Deans to create job descriptions in all departments
• Manage the Tiered Tuition model and placement through School & Student Services
• Assist Leadership Team in the hiring of employees and lead the evaluation of staff
• Review salary and benefit packages to make sure offerings are prudent and current
• Create proper on-ramping of information and training programs for new employees
• Maintain appropriate levels of insurance for the safety of personnel and facilities
• Coordinate the three-year process of accreditation through Cognia (Advanced Ed)
• Create business and construction plans for the campus expansion and development
Oversee Finance Department
• Supervise Director of Finance in managing accounting, purchasing, payroll, budgeting, banking, and reporting
• Supervise Director of Finance in working with budget holders to develop financial plans and ensure compliance
• Work with Director of Finance to develop revenue increasing programs and opportunities for the Academy
• Work with Director of Finance in securing audits of the Academy’s financial records and financial positions
• Work with Director of Finance in working towards financial sustainability and stability for the Academy
Oversee Facility Services
• Supervise Director of Facility Services in maintenance, cleaning, transportation, food service, and safety drills of the Academy
• Supervise Director of Facility Services to ensure the Academy’s compliance with all health and maintenance standards as required by law
• Work with Director of Facility Services to effectively manage the Academy’s bookstore, summer camps, and other auxiliary enterprises at the school
• Work with Director of Facility Services to monitor IT infrastructure, maintenance, upgrades, and any necessary training in current technology
• Work with Director of Facility Services to create business plans for future development of buildings & grounds and planning for a new campus
A successful Director of Business & Operations candidate will have the following prerequisite skills and expertise:
• Track record of excellent leadership skills and organizational abilities
• Outstanding interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
• Superior knowledge of education regulations and school operations
• Proven knowledge of performance evaluation metrics in a school setting
• Demonstrated success in increasing organizational health and productivity
• Financial background including at least 5 years of school experience
• Knowledge of the construction management process, means, and methods
