Summary:
The Director of Accounting is responsible for performing a variety of general accounting duties in accordance with GAAP. This position is responsible for recording day to day financial activity, recording month end entries, preparing budgets and working with our development staff on grant preparation and reports.
Duties include:
  • Responsible for preparing the Associations annual budget and presenting project budgets for grant purposes.
  • Responsible for accurate entry and posting of the following:
1. Reviewing and posting grants, gift and membership batches into Financial Edge from Raisers Edge;
2. A/R invoice/payment entry into Financial Edge;
3. E-Commerce sales from the online store, ebay and amazon into Financial Edge
4. Record book sales and expenses with distributor;
5. Record Endowment transactions;
6. Reconcile bank accounts including Checking, Money Markets, and Endowment;
7. Producing monthly financial statements;
8. Computing and filing monthly sales tax return;
  • Supervising part-time staff that performs:
1. Payroll and 401(k) processing and related entries;
2. A/P entry
3. Allocating prepaids;
4. Allocating Health/Dental expenses;
5. Entering and reconciling American Express
  • Responsible for year-end activity including:
1. Preparation of 1096/1099 NEC/1099 Misc
2. Fiscal year-end inventory physical count and reconciliation
3. Royalty calculations;
4. In-kind calculations for salaries and facilities;
5. Net asset rollover;
  • Other responsibilities:
1. Maintaining the Associations permanent records;
2. Maintaining the banking relationship;
3. Annual audit prep and working with outside CPA firm to produce audit and 990 tax return;
4. Working with 401(k) administrator on preparation and approval of annual 5500 tax return;
5. Entering all accounting transactions in Quickbooks for a contractually managed non-profit, issuing accounts payable checks, preparing the monthly bank reconciliation, preparing 1096/1099 NEC/1099 Misc, and filing annual sales tax return.
Required Qualifications:
  • Candidate with active CPA license is preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience with Blackbaud’s Financial Edge and Raiser’s Edge is required;
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in executive leadership positions, with a non-profit agency is desired;
  • Excellent written, interpersonal and communication skills and professional demeanor,
  • Ability to think strategically, anticipate future consequences and trends, and incorporate them into the Association’s operational expectations.
Compensation:
  • Salary will be commensurate with education and professional experience.

Work Hours:

This is a full time, exempt position; hours are between 8:00 AM-5:00 PM, Monday through Friday with some weekend duty and travel.
