Oversees the development and implementation of strategies for fundraising initiatives in support of the organization’s vision and mission.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, lead and assure implementation of strategies to develop donors and contributions in support of the organization and its foundation. Oversee the growing fund development team and manage a robust portfolio of major donors, including leadership of the statewide $100M capital campaign.
- Ensure that fund development is carried out in keeping with the organization's values, mission, vision and plans and as part of a Culture of Ambassadorship.
- Recommend and execute short- and long-range fund development plans and programs that support the organization's values, mission and objectives.
- Maintain accountability and compliance standards for donors and funding sources.
- Participate in short- and long-term strategic and operational planning for the organization as a member of the Cabinet.
- Assist with the analysis of philanthropic trends, providing results to executive leadership and the Board, and identify areas for development.
- Participate in the development, implementation and monitoring of the department’s annual operating budget within organization fiscal guidelines; ensure adherence to Corporate Financial Policies and procedures.
- Provide leadership to staff, including director level roles within the Advancement Team and beyond as a program business partner. Partner with Human Resource Development in talent acquisition and retention efforts. Assist in preparation and implementation of relevant professional development training and performance management of staff.
- Partner with Marketing Department and Program in implementing Development campaigns.
- Participate in and lead presentations/solicitation activities/tours/media opportunities to represent the organization’s interests and to meet the department’s voluntary giving objectives.
- Participate in volunteer group activities related to fundraising and public relations.
Job Qualifications
Education, Training, and Licensure/Certification
- Bachelor’s degree in philanthropy, marketing, communication, public relation, business, management, or related field of study. Master’s degree preferred.
- Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) certification preferred.
Experience
- Seven years’ experience in a non-profit development management or supervisory role.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Ability to apply principles of logic to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
- Ability to work with mathematical statistics, probability and applications; ability to understand and interpret financial reports.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple and complex projects.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbal and writing. Ability to prepare and write grants, speeches, cases for support, editorials and manuals. Strong public speaking skills.
- Ability to read, write and speak fluent English.
- Ability to effectively lead staff to meet organization and department objectives.
- Ability to relate effectively and work interdependently with all levels of staff, and with general public, congregations, corporations and foundations.
- Knowledge of and ability to use with sophistication, computer software such as Microsoft office programs and in particular, Raisers Edge, our donor database system.

- Automobile travel required. Valid unrestricted driver’s license with good driving record. Valid proof of automobile insurance.
