Job Description: 

The Membership Assistant works in close coordination with the Database Team and may also provide administrative support to other development related matters.  The Membership Assistant will take an active role in promotion of New Jersey Audubon as a membership-based conservation and environmental organization.
Major Responsibilities:
Membership Processing – Offline
  • Process offline credit card memberships (new joins and renewals) in Raiser’s Edge. This includes new memberships from recent member drives. 
  • Prepare and send member cards, new member packets and premiums.
Membership Processing – Online
  • Process online credit card membership transactions (new joins and renewals) in Raiser’s Edge NetCommunity.
  • Set up and process Auto Renewal Memberships. These memberships will be renewed annually, but processing will take place monthly on the 1st of each month depending on membership expiration dates.
  • Prepare and send member cards, new member packets and premiums.
Online Gift Entry
  • Process online credit card donation transactions (including tributes/memorials) in Raiser’s Edge NetCommunity. Prepare and send acknowledgment letters.
  • Enter matching gift pledges, confirm recent donor gifts with companies and foundations, and enter matching gift payments.
  • Process Monthly Recurring Gifts on the 15th of every month in Raiser’s Edge. Also, establish new monthly payments by setting up in gift records. At the start of each new calendar year, prepare and send donor acknowledgement letters with cumulative gift amounts from previous year for donor tax purposes.
Update Constituent Records in Raiser’s Edge
  • Make address/addressee/mailing preferences changes in constituent records as needed.
  • Participate with other staff to adopt a “team” approach towards daily operations at the assigned center.
Other Responsibilities
  • Participate with Center staff and volunteers to adopt a “team” approach towards daily operations at the Center.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as required for the Department and Organization
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
  • Three or more years of professional experience in fund development for nonprofit organizations with the emphasis on membership preferred.
  • Excellent Computer Skills - Microsoft Office, Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge is preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with attention to accuracy and details.
  • Excellent organizational, time and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, shifting priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to relate to and motivate a diverse range of people, exercise cultural competence and inclusion, and accept direction and constructive feedback.
  • Motivated self-starter able to work independently in the execution of his or her responsibilities while collaborating with other staff and organizations with the ability to demonstrate initiative and a positive attitude.
  • Strong professionalism and work ethic with the ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of NJ Audubon and the natural world helpful.
  • Must be flexible to adjust hours to meet deadlines and needs of the department and organization,
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle in NJ.
  • Ability to walk on uneven surfaces as needed for events and lift up to 25 lbs.
Starting Date:  Immediate
Salary:  Commensurate with experience
