The Parkinson Alliance is looking for a Development Coordinator to work in a support role and is a member of the Development and Communications Teams on events and activities including the Parkinson’s Unity Walk and Team Parkinson fundraising events. 
 

The Parkinson Alliance, Inc. is the umbrella organization for the Parkinson’s Unity Walk, as well as for Team Parkinson events held nationally.  Parkinson's Unity Walk, Inc is the largest single-day grassroots fundraiser for Parkinson’s disease research in the country. Our mission has always been to raise funds for research. Thanks to our sponsors, 100% of donations support research. In addition to a 1.4-mile wheelchair-accessible walk in New York City's Central Park, the Unity Walk is also a day of community and education.

General Functions:
  • This position will be a part of a year-round cultivation and engagement strategy for the Parkinson’s Unity Walk participants, donors, supporters, and volunteers, as well as fundraising programs for Team Parkinson events and its constituents
  • This position has direct responsibility for event volunteer programs, communications support, in addition to serving as an important member of the development and fundraising team to assist in the revenue targets
  • Ongoing support of Development team events and activities
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Provide administrative support to the development staff by assisting in fundraising event planning and activities
  • Under the direction of the Development Manager, responsible for the recruitment, training, coordination, and recognition of event volunteers
  • Supports the marketing and communications teams for website and social media needs, support of CHAMPS program
  • Support maintenance of weekly calendar – collaborating with team members on activities and needed updates
  • Regular follow-up phone calls and emails, and organizing meetings to promote our events and programs
  • Perform all responsibilities and projects as assigned by his/her immediate supervisor and management team, including support of budget management, invoice processing, and general administrative work
Volunteers:
  • Under the direction of the Development Manager, responsible for the recruitment, training, coordination, and recognition of event volunteers
  • Coordinate pre-event needs for event areas as it is relevant to volunteers
  • Update volunteer job descriptions annually and act as main organization contact, including training as needed
  • Coordinate the recruitment process of volunteers
  • Coordinate volunteer areas and leads for event days
  • Perform pre as well as post-event volunteer inventory, including supplies for each area
  • Participation at all our events is required
Unity Walk:
  • Assist with Friday evening reception prior to the Unity Walk
  • Coordinate hotel room blocks and provide information for the UW website
  • Participation at this event and the reception, both of which are held in NYC, are required
  • Assist Development Director with Research Update Meetings in New York
Skills:
  • Highly skilled in MS Office; Excel, Word, Power Point, experience with TeamRaiser preferred
  • Strong communicator with ability to share pertinent information across the team
  • Solid organizational skills to support multi-event organization

  • Perform other related duties as assigned
