Events and Donor Forms - International Attendees and Donors

Options
Greetings from Boston, MA

Our organization just upgraded to the NXT recently and am enjoying the experience,  In the wake of the current pandemic, my organization is now doing webinars and virtual events that attract international audiences.  When I use NXT, the forms for events and donors only accept US addresses.  By contrast, Online express allows for international addresses but is not as easy to use as NXT.  Is there something I am missing?  If not, does anyone know if NXT is planning on adding this feature in the very near future, This issue is causing friction with my boss and others since I pushed to upgrade to NXT. Thank you.

  • We're in the exact same boat, John. We just pushed the registration via email today, and did not even know about this issue, so we're scrambling.

Following this to see if there are any viable solutions. Have you managed to find any good work-arounds?

We have still have access to RE7 online express.  I can design forms there that accept international addresses.  However, this means you must process registrations through online express.
  • Ugh. We have Luminate, so we're going to have to figure something out there.

I just created an "Idea" post that people can vote on - I hear that's how Blackbaud figures out what to prioritize (in theory). If you think of it - feel free to go vote! I can't seem to link it here, but it's tagged under Events and it's RE7-I-586.

Thanks for creating that idea, Sara Ford‍. I've moved it to the NXT Ideas Portal for more visibility, it can be accessed here for voting.

We are planning to add international address support to the form, but I don't yet have a timeline I can share for that work. In the meantime, the only option you have if you want to use the NXT form is to remove the address collection fields entirely from the form.  If your event requires payment, the address will be required on the Checkout screen, which does support non-US countries. However, this information is NOT written down to RENXT, so any registrants that register through the form that didn't match to existing constituents based on first name, last name, email address, and phone number (if you added phone as a collection field) would have new constituent records created without addresses.

If there was information that you just wanted for informational purposes - like country, to be able to see who was registering by country, you could add a text field as a Participant Option to the form for registrants to fill out.

    Thanks,

  • Thanks Samantha

That is helpful.  I just have to see how it best fits our needs.
  • Hi Samantha -

Thank you so much for your response! I'll take this to my team to see if it will work for us.

I actually did create an Idea yesterday on this - is it possible to merge them at all? Thanks again!

Sara Ford‍ I actually just moved your Idea from the RE portal to the RENXT portal, and also merged it with an existing idea on this topic. You'll get updates with any status updates we make as this Idea progresses!
  • Oh perfect! Thank you, Samantha!
  • @John Izzo I'm searching the forums for international issues and found this question. It has been a few years and the registration forms handle countries now. This can be marked as answered. I am mostly writing this so that when I stumble on this again I know that I've read it ?
