Responsive email test variations with NetCommunity and Constant Contact

Options
I'm hoping someone can help explain this issue I'm having with our responsive email. Basically everything works perfect except for one thing. It looks like NetCommunity does not allow 100% width and height or soemthing else.

I've designed a responsive email using Responsive Email Designer (RED) from CoffeeCup. I then take that code and paste it into the NetComunity editor. The preview in NetCommunity looks PERFECT. The width is set to 100% and the height it set to fill the space as well. However, when I send the email, it does not appear the same way it does in Preview as well as when sent through Constant Contact. See screenshots below.

The width does not appear to be 100%. If the code is right when pasted into the NetCommunity builder, I have to assume that during the process of generating or at Blackbaud something on their end is doing this.

Can someone from Blackbaud please assist?

Thanks so much in advance for your help.

  • Hello Todd,

I'm not a Blackbaud employee, but maybe I can suggest a couple of potential fixes. The emails you sent are identical, but the code is being formatted differently between editors. This could be for many reasons, but most likely...

When creating your email template, or editing it, the platforms inline your code, placing "style=''" references within each element tag. I do not believe that NetCommunity inlines styles, however, I would recommend taking your code and running it through a known inliner prior to sending these emails. Differences in how styles are inlined, and potential style conflicts could cause the width issue.

MailChimp provides a free inliner tool that will make your template accesible among more devices / may fix styling issues.

    Css Inliner Tool: http://templates.mailchimp.com/resources/inline-css/

While I'm not positive that this will be an absolute-fix, it should stop any undesired formatting.

    Good luck!

Also, feel free to show us your code so that we can better help you out. Maybe a pastebin?

  • Thanks Chris,

I'm pretty sure its inlined but I'll run it through to make sure. Will post an update soon.

  • Ran through MailChimp Inliner and same result through NetCommunity. Works just fine when sent via other email clients but not NetCommunity. Same code used in both. Any ideas is greatly appreciated. Thanks Chris.
