3 years of giving or NOT consecutive

Options

I need to run a query or report, whatever is best to give me the information needed.  I need to find the constituents who have given gifts at least three times or more in seperate years, not consecutively.  I need to run this from the beginning of time until now.

So for example Esther Smith made donations in 97, 2000, 2008 and 2012.

Where do I start to get this information.

You start with dumping tons of data outside of RE and evaluating it. There currently is no functionality within RE to do this.

It has been suggested and gotten many votes (add your vote if you have not already) on the RE Discovery site that this be added but so far no go. http://rediscovery.uservoice.com/forums/137015-raiser-s-edge-discovery-topics/suggestions/2956018-be-able-to-run-a-canned-report-based-on-the-total-

I can only think of 2 options for this:

    • Export summary information fields - one for each year's total for all of the years you need - yes ALL. then  use calculations to see how many of those totals are greater than $0.
    • Export raw data and design a crystal report which can do this (I can't advise HOW but believe it can be done with some work).

You can use this KB solution (BB31783) to identify constituents who gave a certain number of years. You'll use query, export and Excel to get to your final answer. It's not a single-step process, but once you have the query and export set-up, it's very repeatable.

If you only have annual gifts, it would work. But not if you are using # of gifts as criteria and you have multiple/quarterly/monthly gifts in a year.

Gotcha. I knew there was a flaw in my logic!

  • Write a Query using the Summary fields.

Summary Information -- Total Number of Gifts  on Criteria Tab is Greater Than or Equal to 3   on Filter Tab Gift Date is either between or greateater than equal to the Date you want to start searching from.    (You said in Ever?)  then the First day of your first Year  example: 07/01/1932).

Do you care what Fund they gave to?

Do you care what Amount they gave?

Do you care what the Gift Type is?  do you want to count GIK in with cash in this report?

Use this Query in an Export that includes the Summary Info of Total Number of Gifts, Total $$ Given.  And if you want to see each of the gifts, then you will have to build out a separate column for each, you want to see 3? 5? 10? 15? and do you want that info to include the date, amount, fund, appeal?  Along with other info like their name, their affilation (constit code(s)) etc.

    Make sense?

If not your query is done, if yes to either question, then add that field to the filter tab along with the Gift Date.

you would have to filter the Gift Types so that you only get cash/stock/pledge.... non of the pay- types.
