Membership Query

Not sure how to set up a query where I can get the total number of active membership at the end of a calendar year and indicate their membership categories.

  • Hi

I would set up a membership type query where current category is one of (all your categories) and Consituency Code equals MEMB and Current Standing equals Active.  This will show the active members on the date you run it.  You could put date criteria in if you're looking for a specific time period.

Adding date criteria won't show you who was Active as of that date.  The Status only applies to who is Active as of today.

This might seem like an obvious question but when I pull the query, multiple memberships show up (i.e. if one person has a membership that is good until 1/31/2016 and then they renewed so their new membership is valid until 2/1/2017). How do I suppress duplicates like this?

  • If it is a Constituent Query and you include the Membership history information in the output of the Query you will see ALL Membership information in that output.  RE is finding the Constituents that match your Query criteria and then showing you all the relevant information for each of those Constituents.  Remeber, the Query is just for finding who.  When you then do a Report or Export then you'll get only the specific data you're looking for.  The mantra "Query is a grouping tool, not a reporting too."
