how do I test the online donation form?

Hi There,

We are currently developing the BB online donation functionality. How can we test the online form and donation? Are there development credit card numbers we can use?

Hi Maxine. You should be able to set your BBMS account into a test mode. I'm not familiar with how that works in BBMS, but once the account is in test mode you should see a warning on your Online Express form letting you know it's in test mode, then you should be able to enter a dummy credit card number that won't be processed.

What is the best way to do test donations if we have to keep our BBMS account live (as we are in the process of moving from BBNC to BBOX)? After the conversion is complete, we will still want to test new donation forms without putting BBMS in test mode (as that will affect our live forms).

Hi Corry!

Sure - you can actually create a seperate BBMS account just for testing. Try this:

To set up an additional BBMS Account Configuration for testing:

Log into the respective BBMS account:
Select Account Configuration
Click Add
Create a name for the account for testing such as: TEST OLX– DOES NOT CHARGE CARD
Select Process Mode: Test
Select each of your supported credit card types: American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa
Click Save

The new merchant account configuration will appear in RE within Config > Business Rules > Merchant Accounts for use with OLX. The client may now use this for testing the OLX form.

To sort test transactions from Live in the respective BBMS account:

Select Transaction Search
Enter the date range for your testing period
Mark the box for Include Test transactions
Click Search
To export, select Export and choose Excel or CSV

The report will download to your browser. Open the downloaded file and transactions with N/A displayed in the Fees and Net Amount column are those charged in Test mode.

Test Mode: Can be live or fake card number

Use: 1111 as your CSC or CVV code

Transaction is sent to the BBMS gateway only (not to a card holder’s bank). There are no fees associated with test mode.

Please do not forget to edit your OLX form back to a Live BBMS Gateway once you are ready to go!

Thanks for this post. I tried it but ran into difficulty. I created the test BBMS account and pointed my form to it. Got a warning at the top of my online form that 'this is in test mode' - good. Entered all my info including credit card number (I used a real one) - but keep getting an error at the top of the form "invalid account number".

Is this because BBMS is not actually checking with the bank? If so, that's disappointing because now I can't see how my thank you email and my confirmation screens look. So I don't have an actual end-to-end test of my setup.

Or is there some other reason I could be getting that error. I tried using the 'real' CSC value, and I tried using the "1111" that was suggested. Either way, same result.

Any ideas?
