What are some best practices when a constituents changes a membership category? For example, Under the same Program, this constituent was a paid member, but now has dropped down to a (non-paid) prospect member. So in other words, the constiuent is still under the same program, but has changed categories within the program. For historical purposes we would like to keep the "old" category or at least capture that the constituent was once in another category.



Is it best practice to just add a new membership with the same Program and the different category or should we just simply change the category and add new dates so it goes in active status?



I think I just remebered the best way to do this by using the downgrade/upgrade options. But it would still be nice to hear other options it any. Thanks.
