Individuals Can't change Business name on their Update Profile Page!

In the profile updates in Netcommunity/CC, individuals connected through Education Edge can not update their business organization name, thereby making it useless for us if we want parents to notify us if they changed jobs. They can change the business address, phone and job position among other things, but not the name, which makes me wonder why we have this option in the first place? I understand that we don't want our constituents to change an organization's name on the record if other constituents are tied to it, but we should be able to allow them to notify us they have changed jobs. This is not a well thought out option in the update profile section. Please consider updating the process without having to use a re-enrollment form. -Thanks!

    Last time I looked into this the answer you proposed was the answer. It's because of the way it integrates with the organization record. It we allowed them to update they would simple change the organization record. I'm changing this topic to an idea so it can be reviewed for implementing a better way to do this.

  • It is my opinion that the business address that exists on the individual record should be the information displayed on the Profile Update screen.  We have several large employers in the area, including major hospitals, where the parents of our students work at satellite offices.  For example, we have staff physicians that work for the Cleveland Clinc, but not at the downtown location.  The additional addresses are listed  on the organization record, using the Details Description field as the identifier for that satellite address.  This information is what is brought over to the individual record as their business address.



    I think that the Profile Update part should only update the info on the Individual record.  When processing the form submitted, a decision can be made whether to update the organzation or to just update the Individual records (by removing the relationship should the individual change jobs).  It is easy enough to update the Organization by copying the information updated, if needed.



    Or, allow that Business address to be updated on the Idividial record via an enrollment form so parents keep their information current.  Right now, none of the business address information is available on any form outside of the Profile Update form.



    The world where a company has one address and phone number does not exist anymore.  There needs to be more flexibility to ensure data is current.  Isn't that the point in tracking it in the first place?
